The Olympus E-3 Camera

The Olympus E-3 Camera

Parading as the immediate successor to the Olympus E-1, the Olympus E-3 Camera is essentially a complete camera of its own. Rigged with all the features of the Olympus E-1 with some cool and useful add-ons, the Olympus E-3 is strictly designed for the hardcore photographer.

The Olympus E-3 camera has a 10 mega-pixel sensor,  image stabilizers, 5fps continuous shooting with 19 image RAW buffer, 5x/7x/10x magnified view for accurate focusing, and a 2.5”/6.4cm brilliant LCD display with live view. Adding to the mold is the E-3’s autofocus sensor, an ingredient lacking in the Olympus E-1. The autofocus sensing capabilities of the E-3 is tagged to be the fastest AF system around.

The Olympus E-3 has three separate built-in processors, each with different functions: one for stabilization, one for autofocus, and the TruePic III for image processing. The E-3 from Olympus also employs a new flash system, which allows more control from the user how much flash the image needs.

All in all, the Olympus E-3 camera allows the photographer to capture moments with less effort and more image clarity than the previous Olympus models.

When it comes to grip and feel, the Olympus E-3 camera flaunts the same appeal presented by its direct competitors, the Nikon D300 and the Canon 40D. Big, hefty, and solid, the E-3 camera from Olympus is filed to the brim with controls and buttons. With that being said, the E-3 conjures an old school camera feel.

Handling the E-3 from Olympus is a breeze. The surface has a certain dry rubberized texture that makes gripping very easy. The contours are also well placed. The shot button is placed within a well that easily guides the index finger when the snapping moments come. Plus, other buttons are conveniently positioned for easy access, but does not present themselves to accidental pushing.

The casing of the Olympus E-3 is also a cause for a celebration. Deviating from the usual trend, the E-3 is housed inside a case of magnesium alloy, giving the camera a durable appeal. Using the Thixomold process to create the case, the risks of bubbles and seams in the camera’s shell structure is very low. Basically, the Olympus E-3 camera is made resistant to dust and water. While the sealing makes the camera virtually splash proof, it is not, in the strictest sense of the word, fully waterproof.

With all the features the Olympus E-3 camera has, what’s not to like? The design and feel is great. The ergonomical wicks of the camera’s physical details are simply superb, giving the handler a great deal of control with a great deal of comfort as well.

The mechanical aspect of the camera is rated at par excellence. The high-end lenses, world’s fastest auto focusing system, and a whole lot more offered by the Olympus E-3 camera makes it a top-class camera in terms of features. Performance wise, the Olympus E-3 does not lag behind its competitions when it comes to taking shots and images that are intended to last a lifetime.
