Nokia E63

Nokia E63

Released as a cheaper alternative for the popular Nokia E71 models, this QWERTY smartphone is slotted in the middle of the E-series lineup of the popular phone manufacturer.

The design of the Nokia E63 is much like the Nokia E71 models but of course with slight differences. Firstly, where the predecessor has a metallic body, the E63 has a plastic cover with a soft-touch paint scheme. This would make it less prone to fingertip smears. The phone sports a rubber QWERTY keyboard which is more sensitive than the Nokia E71 metallic keyboard, a 2.36” TFT display with the 320x240 pixel resolution common to the series, and the default 110 mb of internal storage memory.

Connectivity options to a myriad of devices could be done through 3G, GPRS, EDGE, Bluetooth 2.0+ EDR, and Wi-Fi which makes the phone easy to synchronize data and media with different devices which are common in the high-tech world. Frequent business travelers could also avail of the phone’s quad-band GSM network to connect to major telecommunications networks throughout the world.

Professionals would be glad to know that the phone includes email connectivity, intranet access, and PIM functionality; while media-minded people will take advantage of the E63’s 2MP fixed-focus camera, video recording capabilities, music player functions, and FM connectivity. All of which can be accessed through customizable dedicated keys and shortcut menus which makes the Nokia E63 user friendly. Storage is not a problem as with most storage devices, it offers storage for up to 16 GB microSDHC memory cards. It is also worthy to note that the Nokia E63 could literally be changed to a business phone to a personal media device with just “a click of a button”.

The Nokia E63 is packed with the Symbian OS version 3.1 (Feature Pack 1), essentially the same as the Nokia E71 all with the standard fare of PIM and entertainment application. The OS boasts of the MS Exchange ActiveSync compatibility which will synchronize your email, calendar, contacts, and tasks to the usual Windows PIM managers.

As part of the package, the Nokia E63 will feature online storage highlight which will sync and backup data and media files on the Nokia’s new OVI site. This service is for a free 1GB storage space within the site.

With the myriad of personal productivity tools, connectivity options, and entertainment, the Nokia E63 is for the budget-minded professionals and personal travelers alike.
