Tiger Telematics Gizmondo
Ah the multitasking devices, it has become standard for multitasking devices to come in small packages and offer or promise big punches.
The Gizmondo is a tight little lightweight multi-functional unit capable of many applications. Its design is sleek and compact, grips great and has a fairly easy interface to navigate and interact with. The unit measures in at 5inches wide by 3 inches tall, an inch deep, and has a 2-inch screen. Has a built in camera, although it is purely a point and shoot kind of shutter speed not for your serious photo ops. It is good enough though for those spur of the moment kind of opportunities you would end up hating yourself that you did not bring nor had a camera on you.
Capable of playing games, movies, music (Windows media compatible), mp4’s, and browsing the net, it comes equipped with its own GPS system. Able to send text messages and seeks out fellow Gizmondo users with its Bluetooth capability. Other features are a USB port ready to connect and synchronize with your PC and every other basic function you would expect from a multi tasking device such as a calendar, an alarm clock, a currency converter, flight mode and the likes. On Gizmondo’s homepage, www.gizmondo.com, upon registration, downloads are offered.
And the games?
Though the Gizmondo can also be a gaming console, do not expect it to replace the PSP or the NDS any time soon. The games playable on the Gizmondo are not for the serious gamers, concentrating more on the arcade types of games. Games that do not require much of your time to play, a great choice if you ask me for the developers at Tiger Telematics for not competing directly with Nintendo and Sony. A chip is inserted into the unit and the games load semi-automatically, a major downside to the game chips is its size, its very small and can be easily misplaced or dropped and stepped on.
Not a very good gaming console for you serious gamers out there but surely a great companion for people on the go and for your organizing needs.
