Nintendo Game Boy Advance SP

Nintendo Game Boy Micro

The latest from the Game Boy line of handheld consoles, the Micro truly is Micro!
Looking more like a controller from the old SNES rather than a gaming console, this amazing feat of engineering can still deliver what we have all come to expect from a Game Boy. Following the GBA SP, modifications were made with the screen resolution, its much brighter and much more detailed although its screen is dwarfed by the SP, it still makes up for its screen output quality.  Its body’s dimensions are 4 inches wide, 2 inches long, and 0.7 inches deep versus the SP’s 3.3 by 3.2 by 1.0, and the DS is 5.9 by 3.3 by 1.1 and weighs in at a mere 2.5 ounces. The screen size is 2 inches as opposed to the SP’s 3-inch screen. It also comes with a built jack, although the Micro has a single speaker, designers must have thought their target market would most probably prefer playing using headphones or even in mute for that matter. All the standard buttons are present, D-pad and "a" and "b" buttons, and the left and right shoulder buttons which are awesomely chrome finished. A bluish glow emanates from the Start and Select buttons. The rechargeable batteries run for approximately 9 hours. An extension port is also ready for adapters and link cables. A major re-design for the Micro are the buttons’ distance to one other, making them farther apart as compared to the SP, making adult users of this console much more comfortable with long periods of usage.  Another great innovation to the Micro is its screen brightness/volume controls combined into just one control that is on the left shoulder button.

It is backward compatible with all Game Boy Advance games, so you will have a wide library of games to choose from the time you purchase your own Micro and no need to wait for specifically designed titles on the Micro.   To top it all off it comes with three face plates to protect your screen and customize your console that you can snap on or snap off to whichever one you want, it comes in "Flame," "Camouflage," "Ammonite," and "Ladybug.

The Micro, overall, is a great purchase for people on the go and business types that have a few minutes or hours to spare before that plane arrives or that business meeting resumes. It was designed to target the adult market specifically. Why else would they put a lanyard hole on it, available in black and silver? C’mon! It’s the ultimate office escape and break companion.
