Nintendo Game Boy Advance SP
The Game Boy line of handheld consoles has been around for the longest time. With the release and success of the original Game Boy, it was only a matter of time that there would be a successor to this successful design and formula of a hand held console. The release of the Game Boy Advance was greatly met with much anticipation and it did deliver and meet expectations. With capabilities of connecting with its bulkier cousin, the Game Cube.
The Game Boy Advance was a huge success commercially in a time where there was not much resistance from competitor companies in the gaming industry.
The downside to the advance that it needed much light for you to play and see the game you are actually playing. Accessories were sold to rectify this problem, lamps that you could connect to your console, snap on plates with lights and the likes. But the issue was perfectly addressed with the release of the Game Boy Advance SP. SP, standing for SPecial. The new re-incarnation featured a smaller and much more compact body, 82mm wide, 84.6mm high and 24.3mm in depth. It folds neatly like a clam and fits into your pocket perfectly. Most importantly, it had a design feature most enthusiast would a agree that it’s a stroke of genius and slightly a bit of logic and common sense. It had a built-in light source in to the screen that you can turn on or off whenever you need or don’t need it. With rechargeable lithium batteries capable of 10 hours of gaming time with the light on, the SP is one handheld that is necessary on all backpacks.
Retaining all the capabilities of its predecessors, compatibility with older games, networking enabled, Nintendo truly put this little guy thru the gym, buffed and ready to take on all your gaming needs. Overall, the GBA SP rocks!
